Dec 17, 2015 (newstodate): Plans are maturing for the Iranian carrier Mahan Air to start flights into Scandinavia from 2016.
-We are currently in the planning stage for setting up flights to both Copenhagen in Denmark and to Stockholm in Sweden, says Hossein Abdolahi, Mahan Air International Affairs Expert.
-Depending on finalization of the remaining operational issues as well as aircraft availability, we will start either in March 2016 or by June 2016, and Mahan Air will then be offering two direct flights on Sundays and Tuesdays from Tehran to Copenhagen and to Stockholm, summing up to four weekly flights between Iran and Scandinavia.
-The aircraft type will be either Airbus A310 or Airbus A340, which are large aircraft, but we do have significant volumes of passengers between Iran and Scandinavia already.
-In contrast to Iran Air, our airline is not on the EU list on carriers banned from EU countries so we are entirely free to operate and do look forward to launching flights on these two routes, says Mr Hossein Abdolahi.
In 2014, Mahan Air carried 5.6 million passengers, operating a fleet now comprising 65 aircraft including seven Airbus A340-600, four Airbus A340-300 and 11 Airbus A310-300
