Dec 09, 2015 (newstodate): Finnair's monthly cargo statistics remain tainted by the shortfall of freighter cargo due to the stop of own freighter services from the turn of the year.
In January-November 2015 the carrier has thus seen its total cargo volumes down by 12.8 percent, y-o-y, to 120,205 tonnes despite practically unchanged volumes on the Asian lanes at 75,837 tonnes.
Volumes on the European markets also declined by 9.2 percent to 20,026 tonnes, while the North Atlantic traffic has been up by six percent to 7,401 tonnes.
But cargo on freighters and purchased capacity dropped by 51.2 percent, y-o-y, to 15,361 tonnes during the period, and statistics will only provide a more clear picture after the end of this year when freighter volumes will be provided only by the twice-weekly joint IAG freighter between Helsinki and London, plus the capacity on JAL's daily Boeing 787 flights between Tokyo and Helsinki.
In November 2015 the company lifted a total of 12,160 tonnes, down 2.2 percent, y-o-y, with the Asian traffic growing 7.3 percent to 7,359 tonnes.
Except for the insignificant domestic cargo market, the over-all performance in volumes was clearly pulled down by the comparative drop in freighter cargo that dipped 35.8 percent to 1,722 tonnes.
In November, all other segments showed positive growth.
