Dec 16, 2015 (newstodate): With great fanfare, Finnair opened up for long-haul operations with Airbus A350 starting with the route between Helsinki and Shanghai from November 21, 2015.
Delays in the delivery scheme for the new aircraft have however forced the airline to adjust its Airbus A350 ambitions.
The route between Helsinki and Shanghai will thus return to A330/A340 services in January 2016, with the A330-300 replacing the A350 during January 6-21, and the A340-300 taking over from January 22 till the end of the month.
On the Transatlantic flights between Helsinki and New York, the Airbus A350 will replace the Airbus A330-300 during the period January 12-20, 2016.
Before that, Finnair will take in its third Airbus A350 that has now completed two of three production test flights prior to the final customer approval flight - and the 4th aircraft for Finnair has performed its first test flight, with the 5th readying for its first flight as well.
