Dec 09, 2015 (newstodate): October 2015 saw the joint cargo volumes at the three leading Swedish airports rising by 6.8 percent, y-o-y.
Together, the Swedavia-managed airports at Stockholm, Malmoe and Gothenburg handled a total of 22,208 tonnes of cargo, compared to 20,797 tonnes in October 2014.
The biggest growth was seen at Malmoe Airport where volumes increased by 18.8 percent, y-o-y, to 2,944 tonnes mainly due to ABC and Atran's services to Moscow.
The largest volumes were, however, seen at Stockholm Arlanda Airport that handled 14,035 tonnes of cargo, up 8.9 percent, y-o-y.
The rise in cargo at Arlanda is mainly due to increased capacity by TNT after its move from Vasteraas Airport from August 31, 2015, the new route by SAS to Hong Kong, Norwegian's new routes to Las Vegas and San Juan, the increase in frequency on Qatar's flights, and the addition of a third weekly freighter flight by Korean Air Cargo.
Finally, the sustained decline in volumes at Gothenburg Airport also seems to be easing, with a total of 5,230 tonnes in October 2015, down 3.7 percent, y-o-y.
