Dec 21, 2015 (newstodate): As part of its Horizon 2021 business plan to expand services to, from and between the Baltic markets, Latvia's airBaltic is again announcing a new route in the region.
To start from April 18, 2016, airBaltic will be offering 10 weekly flights connecting Estonia and Lithuania with Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
Another new route already announced is the route between Tallinn and Amsterdam to be launched from March 27, 2016, with seven weekly rotations.
airBaltic has committed itself to operating 11 direct routes out of both Tallinn and Vilnius over the coming five years, and so far four routes have been opened from Vilnius and four out of Tallinn, to which the new route from Tallinn to Amsterdam will be added in 2016, plus the new route between Tallinn and Vilnius.
Strategy or not - the airline is still holding a cautious foot close to the brakes by declaring "However, strong demand from both outbound and inbound traveller is a prerequisite for future improvement", quoting Wolfgang Reuss, airBaltic SVP of Network Management.
