Dec 09, 2015 (newstodate): The ACMI carrier Air Atlanta Icelandic has inadvertently been connected with the fate of three abandoned Boeing 747-200F aircraft parked for years in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The three aircraft carry registrations attaching them to the Icelandic airline that, however, denies any responsibility for their whereabouts.
-The aircraft bearing registration marks TF-ARM, TF-ARN, TF-ARH, which are currently parked in Malaysia, were operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic until 2010 when they were returned to their owner, says Baldvin Hermannsson, Air Atlanta Icelandic VP Sales & Marketing.
-Air Atlanta Icelandic does not have any knowledge of who the current owner of the aircraft is today, and has had nothing to do with the aircraft since then.
-All three aircraft were de-registered from the Registry of the Icelandic CAA back in 2011 and 2012, though no-one seems to have painted over the registration marks since then, says Mr Hermannsson.
Malaysia Airport has now advertised the sale of the three aircraft after 14 days if an owner does not claim the property.
