Nov 26, 2015 (newstodate): Since July 1, 2014, all three state-owned international airports in Lithuania - Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga - have been under unified management as one Plc. And work is now progressing towards opening a tender for a concessionaire to operate the airports.
-We are currently working on the legislative framework adjustments required to create a suitable environment for the future concession of the airport, says Arijandas Sliupas, vice-minister of transport & communications.
-And one very important aspect to emphasize is that we are not talking about privatization at all. In our case airports concession relates only to the long-term operational rights of the airports while maintaining the state's 100 percent ownership of the assets.
-There are variuos processes going in parallel in order to meet the expected concession tender opening by the next quarter of 2016. This is also related to a concession advisory services tender, which we are running now and expect to finish by January 2016, says Mr Sliupas.
