Nov 09, 2015 (newstodate): Despite sustained problems with access to the Chinese market and effects from the embargo on exports to Russia, Norwegian salmon are more than ever hot stuff on a global scale.
For the first time ever, Norwegian seafood exports exceeded NOK 8.1 billion in October, representing an increase by seven percent, y-o-y.
The Salmon exports contributed very significantly, with record export volumes at 103,000 tonnes, combined with good market prices that generated NOK 4.7 bio.
So far into 2015, Norway has exported 810,000 tonnes of salmon, up 3.6 percent, y-o-y.
Exports to Eastern Europe and Russia have declined, however, while exports to the USA and to Asia are still growing in volumes, up 13 percent y-o-y in October in both cases.
