Nov 24, 2015 (newstodate): The Estonian company Nordic Aviation Group maintains its focus on securing the provision of flights as a rescue operation in the aftermath of Estonian Air's demise.
-It is really still a rescue operation, but it is going well thanks for our excellent cooperation with Adria Airways that has really proved to be a very efficient and positive strategic partner, says Erik Sakkov, Nordic Aviation Group CCO.
-We are even adding Munich as a new destination from December 19, 2015, but from the start this will be a weekly service only, with a focus on the skiing community. At a later stage we will probably develop the service to Munich to more scheduled frequencies.
-We are now in the air with chartered aircraft from four airlines, but our aim is to see the aircraft formerly operated by Estonian Air back with us, manned by Estonian crews that are currently being recruited through an open tender process. Once they are selected they will go to Ljubljana for training by Adria Airways and then be scheduled for service on the former Estonian Air aircraft flying on Adria Airways' AOC.
-We hope to see these Bombardier aircraft entering service by the turn of the year, but the cooperation with Adria Airways will continue while we turn our attention to setting up the airline as Estonia's new home carrier with an own AOC and European licenses.
-Basically, we are in no hurry to obtain our own AOC as the cooperation with Adria Airways is working smoothly, allowing us to focus on consolidating our daily operations.
