Nov 19, 2015 (newstodate): Isavia is reporting a strong performance at Keflavik Airport in 2015.
-In the period January-October 2015, passenger volumes were up by 25,5 percent, y-o-y, and we now expect the total for the year 2015 to be 4,865,797 passengers, which is an increase by 25,8 percent from 2014, says Gretar Mar Gardarsson, Isavia Project manager Business & Route Development.
-In our forecast for 2016 we now expect 6,249,825 passengers, which would be an increase by 28,4 percent, y-o-y. This might be seen against the volumes of passengers in 2013 that ended at 3,209,000.
-Another significant record at Keflavik is the fact that there are now nine airlines offering year-round services, namely Icelandair, WOW air, easyJet, British Airways, Air Berlin, SAS, Norwegian, Wizz Air, and Primera Air.
-As of today, it is known that 25 airlines will be serving on routes to Iceland next summer, which is also a record in the history of Keflavik Airport. Among these, several are newcomers including British Airways, Iberia Express, CSA Czech Airlines, Germania, and airBaltic.
-All in all, this calls for large investments in the continued development of Keflavik Airport, as comprised by the Masterplan announced in October, says Mr Gardarsson.
