Nov 04, 2015 (newstodate): The existing passenger forecast by Isavia concerning traffic through Keflavik Airport may have to be significantly updated.
With the influx of new airlines to serve route to Iceland in 2016 as well as the opening of new routes by Icelandic carrier and increases in frequency on existing ones will drive the total passenger volume in 2016 up by 25 percent, y-o-y, after already growing 20 percent, y-o-y, in 2014, to 3.9 mio passengers.
With the latest airline announcements including British Airways, Germania, airBaltic, CSA and Iberia Express, Iceland will see the operation by 25 carriers in 2016, of which nine will perform year-round services.
The 25 carriers will increase Keflavik's connectivity to 86 destinations in Europe and North America.
