Compared to October 2013, the number of scheduled departures from the airport has grown by 45 percent, and the number of carriers operating at the airport has almost doubled.
In September 2015, the latest month accounted for, the volume of passenger was up by 32 percent, y-o-y, to 487,508, the number of movements increased by 2.6 percent to 7,111, and cargo volumes increased by 11.6 percent to 4,122 tonnes.
Keflavik Airport Master Plan to 2040, presented earlier this week states that by completion of planned construction works, 14 million passengers could transit through the airport based on current distribution, and up to 25 million passengers could transit if distribution was more equal.
