Nov 25, 2015 (newstodate): Chinese investments are streaming into the world's aviation-related industries.
The latest example is the Hainan Group's acquisition of 23.7 percent of the shares in Brazil's third-largest airline, the low-cost carrier Azul.
Azul operates flights to 106 destinations in Brazil, French Guyana and the United States with a fleet comprising 149 aircraft, with orders for a further 102 aircraft.
Earlier this week, Hainan Group was also cleared by the EC to take over Swissport, the world's largest ground and cargo handling company that will remain as a stand-alone business within the HNA Group.
In 2015, China's Bohai Leasing announced its acquisition of the Irish aircraft lessor Avolon, and also in 2015 CEFC, China Energy Company Ltd. and Travel Service took over 50 percent of the shares in the Czech Travel Service with subsidiaries in Slovakia, Poland and Hungary.
Earlier, the HNA Group Co Ltd also acquired all shares in the Turkish carrier ACT Airlines that has been re-branded to trade as MyCargo Airlines operating under the Grand China Logistics Group, the logistics arm of HNA.
