Nov 10, 2015 (newstodate): At long last: Serbia will get direct non-stop connections by its main carrier from June 1, 2016.
Speaking at a new conference, Air Serbia's CEO announced the news that the carrier is now in the market for leasing an Airbus A330-200 aircraft to provide flights on the route that has long been on the wishing-list.
Serbia was downgraded from Category 1 in 2002, barring any new service by a Serbia-registered aircraft carrier into North American airports, but after repeated disappointments the country regained its Cat I status in June 2014, allowing the carrier to launch flights on routes to the USA.
Air Serbia will thus become the first carrier in the former Yugoslavia to operate flights to North America.
