Nov 23, 2015 (newstodate): Norwegian is now free to pursue its plans for a major expansion of its ex-UK operations.
The carrier has obtained an AOC in the UK, allowing it to open up new routes from UK airports where it already has a significant presence at London Gatwick Airport.
Today, Norwegian has based a fleet of eight Boeing 737-800 and two Boeing 787-8 aircraft at London Gatwick, and so far plans are to add another two Boeing 787-8 aircraft already from 2016 to facilitate the opening of more international and intercontinental flights in addition to routes to New York, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico.
Norwegian UK is a separate company from Norwegian Air International operating on an Irish AOC and still awaiting a decision from the US DOT on plans for more flights to North America
