Nov 16, 2015 (newstodate): Despite a general downturn in corporate flights in many markets, FBO Riga seems to be on a steep growth curve.
By the end of October 2015, the number of business aircraft flights served by the company has more than doubled, while the number of passengers increased by 60 percent.
According to earlier figures by Wingx Advance, the Russian market this summer declined by 24 percent, y-o-y, while Ukraine dropped 37 percent, Turkey six percent, and Austria and Norway were down by nine percent in business and VIP flight volumes.
FBO Riga operates 12,000 sq m terminal area, and a 8,400 sq m heated hangar area capable of housing nine Bombardier or Gulfstream business jets or up to five Boeing or Airbus Corporate jets aircraft.
Besides, the company also has 1,700 sq m of technical area for maintenance and repair.
Opening the first purpose-built business aviation hangar in the Baltic States and Scandinavia, FBO Riga - part of the privately owned Latvian company Flight Consulting Group - launched business in 2000 and is now serving 85 percent of all business aircraft operations at the airport.
