Nov 23, 2015 (newstodate): Airbus is plagued by snags in the production of the Airbus A350 aircraft, causing customers to find alternative solutions pending the delivery of new aircraft.
One example is Finnair that has so far only received one Airbus A350 aircraft that was performing its first intercontinental flights on November 21, 2015, on the route between Helsinki and Shanghai after some delay due to repair works following a month of intra-European familiarization flights.
To cover up for the lack of capacity, Finnair is now to lease a Boeing 777-200ER from the Spanish carrier Privilege Style during the period December 7-23, 2015.
Airbus has pledged to deliver a total of 15 A350 aircraft before the end of this, but has so far only managed to hand over 10 aircraft, with the latest delivered to Qatar Airways that now has seven aircraft in the fleet.
One more aircraft is close to delivery, probably by the end of this month, going either to Finnair or to Vietnam Airlines.
Finnair earlier planned to have five Airbus A350 in the fleet by the end of this year, but the target is now Q2, 2016.
