Nov 10, 2015 (newstodate): Airbus is running behind schedule in A350 aircraft deliveries to Finnair, its first European operator of this type.
The airline now confirms that it expects to have five Airbus A350 aircraft in the fleet by Q2, 2016.
Until now, the message has been that the first four aircraft would have been delivered before the end of 2015, with another seven slated for delivery in 2016 and 2017.
Due to the delays in delivery scheme, Finnair has had to postpone the launch of A350 flights on the route from Helsinki to Bangkok to December 24, 2015, against earlier December 4, 2015, and the introduction of the A350 on the route from Helsinki to Beijing is now rescheduled for January 6, 2016, against earlier December 4, 2015.
Finnair will thus only be able to introduce its single A350 aircraft delivered on October 7, 2015, on the route from Helsinki to Shanghai starting from November 21, 2015, as planned.
According to the A350 routes scheme earlier announced, Finnair is also to introduce the aircraft on flights to Hong Kong from February 1, 2016, and to Singapore from March 28, 2016, but this may also be up for change.
