Oct 28, 2015 (newstodate): As the prospects for Norway's continued growth in the oil and gas industries are fading, the country's voluminous seafood exports continue to grow.
According to industry sources, the revenues from salmon cargo exports now constitute 20 percent of total sales in Norway by Emirates, and 80 percent of the carrier's total cargo from the Norwegian markets consist of seafood products.
Half of the carrier's seafood and other cargo shipments are, however, not flown, but trucked to a number of continental airports due to lack of capacity on the airline's passenger aircraft on the route between Oslo and Dubai.
Most of the seafood exports carried by Emirates are transiting at Dubai for onward carriage, but also the volume of Norwegian salmon sold in Dubai has increased by 82 percent in 2014 after the launch of the daily Oslo service on September 2, 2014.
