Oct 26, 2015 (newstodate): Greenland Express is continuing its talks with Russian financial and aircraft leasing institutions to firm up its plans for acquisition of Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.
-Representatives from Sukhoi will visit Greenland Express at Aalborg and Copenhagen on October 28-29, and our target is now to finalize the leasing contract and its financing by November 13, 2015, says Gert Brask, Greenland Express.
-Another issue is the forwarding of an AOC application to the Danish Transport Authority. We are basing this application on the Superjet 100 aircraft and are working hard to have all documents and details, including financing and economy, verified before the application is officially forwarded. The target here is to achieve this by November 20, 2015, and it is then up to the Aviation Authority when the process can be finalized, says Mr Brask.
Greenland Express hopes to start flights in 2016 between Greenland's two Atlantic airports and Billund and Copenhagen in Denmark as well as Iceland and possibly also the Faeroe Islands, based on delivery of the first two Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft by Q2, 2016, and the network will then be gradually expanded as more aircraft arrive in 2017-18, with Canadian destinations Toronto and Halifax on the tentative route map, as well as London, Paris and Berlin.
Greenland Express Holding plans to take delivery of two Superjet 100 aircraft in 2016, and another batch of three longer-range aircraft in 2017-18.
