Oct 08, 2015 (newstodate): A harbinger of what is to come from Finnair with the start of deliveries of the new Airbus A350 aircraft from October 7, 2015, new Asian flights have been announced from 2016.
Finnair has long been the only North European airline to offer direct flights to all of Japan's three largest cities Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya - and the carrier is now to bolster its position further by opening flights from Helsinki to Fukuoka, another large city in Japan.
The flights will start from spring 2016, with four weekly rotations on the route.
Finnair is also to return services on the route from Helsinki to Guangzhou, China's fourth-largest city.
The route will be served with four weekly flights between May 6 and October 29, 2016.
Finnair first launched flights to Guangzhou on September 2, 2005, but pulled out again after three years of operation with MD-11 aircraft.
Finnair has year-round services to Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong and Shanghai, and a summer service to Xi'an.
