Oct 13, 2015 (newstodate): Estonian Air has now put its two Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft in commercial operation.
The carrier received the first aircraft on October 2, 2015, and the second followed on October 9 with its first flight in Estonian Air colors already the following day on the route between Tallinn and Amsterdam.
The two aircraft are delivered on a two-year leasing contract with the the US company Regional One and was formerly flying with Lufthansa Cityline.
The CRJ700 aircraft will be serving Estonian Air flights with higher demand like Amsterdam, Stockholm, Brussels, Milan, and Kiev,
Already in the fleet of Estonian Air are three Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft that offer up to 90 seats against the CRJ700's maximum of 78 seats.
With these latest deliveries, Estonian Air has obtained the efficiency and economic benefits from operating a single-type aircraft fleet.
By March 2016, Estonian Air will be through the transition period where the airline has to use some aircraft from other airlines.
The airline is planning is to operate altogether with five or six CRJ900 and CRJ700 regional jet aircraft on routes to and from Tallinn, and one smaller turboprop on Tallinn-Stockholm Bromma route from March 2016.
On top of that Estonian Air plans to operate another two to four CRJ regional jet aircraft as capacity provider to other companies.
