Jan 07, 2015 (newstodate): Finnair has found new non-aviation shareholders to replace Flybe's stake in Flybe Finland.
At an upfront risk valued one euro, Flybe's 60 percent stake has been taken over by Finnish companies StaffPoint and GWS, securing the uninterrupted services of Flybe Finland in Finnair's domestic and regional traffic.
The MoU now signed will turn into a deal done pending the approval by the Finnish competition authorities.
-When the deal is realized, Flybe Finland and its board of directors will start jointly developing a business model for the company and improving the effectiveness and profitability of regional flying, says Pekka Vauramo, Finnair CEO.
The transaction price is 1 euro, probably to be shouldered evenly between the two parties.
StaffPoint Ltd offers staffing and recruiting expertise, coaching, training and HR software, while G.W. Sohlberg Ltd, founded in 1876, is a Finnish family-owned investment company investing.
Finnair and Flybe UK Ltd announced on November 12, 2014 that the shares of Flybe Nordic held by Flybe UK would be sold to a new majority shareholder, or to Finnair, aiming at finding solutions that would enable the development of regional flying in a financially sustainable way.
Finnair and Flybe established Flybe Nordic AB in 2011, and Flybe
Finland Oy is 100 percent owned subsidiary of Flybe Nordic AB.
