Jan 12, 2015 (newstodate): All-in cargo rates will make it a lot easier for all parties, compared to earlier calculations of fuel and security surcharges above the pure cargo rate, says SAS Cargo.
-SAS Cargo has actually implemented the all-in rate from January 1, 2015, already. The earlier system proved too cumbersome for all, says Leif Rasmussen, SAS Cargo managing director.
-Turbulent changes in dollar rates and fuel prices have a direct impact on costs of transportation, and with all-in rate we are now in a position to flexibly price the cargo according to actual costs.
-In reality, all-in rates were already long implemented for ad-hoc shipments that constitute by far the majority of all our transports. And here market mechanisms including the balance between supply and demand plays a vital role.
-Because of the full implementation of all-in rates, our GSSA contracts have been adjusted to secure the position of our providers. Some of these contracts are based on tonnage, others are now based on gross rates, and in all cases the new rates system should not have any economic impact on our relations with GSSAs, says Mr Rasmussen.
