Jan 29, 2015 (newstodate): Despite challenging macroeconomic conditions and severe turbulence in the country's civil aviation, Russia's Transaero managed to round off 2014 with best-ever performance.
The privately-owned airline carried 13,198,591 passengers, an increase by 5.6 percent, y-o-y, as well as 69,332 tonnes of cargo, 0.6 percent less than in the previous year.
Transaero was thus the country's leader in domestic cargo and the only Russian airline on the Top-20 list of the world's most safe airlines.
Transaero also operates the largest fleet of long-range wide-body aircraft in Russia, CIS and Eastern Europe including 20 Boeing 747, 14 Boeing 777, 18 Boeing 767, as well as 46 Boeing 737, and three Tu-214 aircraft.
The carrier is also to take in the first of four Airbus A380 aircraft in 2015, with orders at Airbus for delivery of 14 Airbus A320 Family aircraft as well as 20 Airbus A330 aircraft.
