Thus, Norwegian has now announced that it may connect Barcelona to five major cities of the United States by 2016: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Orlando.
The announcement was made as Norwegian unveiled its new headquarters for Southern Europe at Barcelona El Prat Airport.
Norwegian started to operate from Barcelona El Prat in 2008, and is now the airport's 7th largest airline in passenger figures.
In 2015, Norwegian will base a fourth aircraft at Barcelona El Part, allowing the carrier to open five new routes from Barcelona.
Besides the destinations already served in 2014 from Barcelona, Norwegian will fly to Birmingham, Dubrovnik, Billund, Stavanger and Trondheim, linking Barcelona to a total of 15 destinations served with 158 weekly flights.
