Jan 06, 2015 (newstodate): North Germany's Frankfurt Hahn Airport has lost several all-cargo carriers over the past few years - and 2015 started with more bad news...
Celebrating the decision of Air China Cargo to launch freighter services at Frankfurt Hahn Airport from July 2014, the airport has now been informed that the carrier will not resume traffic after the recent Christmas break.
Starting from July 1, 2014, the carrier has been operating two China-US-Europe-China flights, with three weekly services on the route Shanghai Pu Dong Anchorage Chicago Frankfurt Hahn Shanghai Pu Dong, and two weekly services with New York JFK replacing Chicago, thus calling five times weekly at Frankfurt Hahn to load European export cargo to Shanghai.
Earlier, Qatar Airways Cargo left Frankfurt Hahn in favor of Frankfurt Airport from October 27, 2013, Aeroflot Cargo stopped its freighter operations from July 2013, Air Cargo Germany went bust by mid-April 2013, and Etihad Crystal Cargo that also left Frankfurt Hahn Airport in favor of Frankfurt Airport from the start of 2013.
Left in serving Frankfurt Hahn Airport are the Chinese carriers Yangtze River Express with up to three weekly rotations, Navitrans cooperating with Evergreen with one weekly flights, as well as Nippon Cargo Airlines.
