Jan 06, 2015 (newstodate): The Lithuanian carrier Air Lituanica has raised the bar for its performance in 2015, second full year of operations.
Carrying a total of 1320,000 passengers in 2014, the airline sets the goal of carrying 180,000 passengers this year by increasing frequencies and expanding with new routes yet to be announced, including more flights to existing and new destinations in Germany.
First new route to be opened in 2015 will be the flight between Vilnius and Stockholm Bromma Airport from January 26, 2014.
The largest number of passengers, 27,000, was transported to Tallinn, followed by Paris with 22,500, and Berlin and Munich with 20,000 passengers each.
Starting from March 12, 2014, Air Lituanica has also carried 11,500 transit passengers traveling between Tallinn and Vilnius Airport.
Air Lituanica is offering flights from Vilnius to Berlin, Brussels, Prague, Munich, Paris, Tallinn, Billund and Amsterdam.
In the fleet now is one Embraer 175 as well as one ATR72-600, leased from DOT and replacing the CRJ-200 earlier leased from the Danish carrier Cimber Air.
According to Air Lituanica, the carrier now accounts for 11-12 percent of the traffic by scheduled carriers at Vilnius Airport that grew its total passenger volumes by 10 percent in 2014.
