Jan 30, 2015 (newstodate): In 2014, Lufthansa Cargo managed to meet the IATA's target of 22 percent e-AWB penetration in almost all the Nordic countries where the freight airline operates.
-Despite some initial challenges, ratios up to 35.1 percent were achieved by 31 December 2014, says Alexander Kohnen, Lufthansa Cargo Director Nordic and Baltic Countries.
-In the first quarter of 2015, the launch of e-AWB in the Baltics will ensure that successful implementation of the eAWB initiative
continues.
-However, the target for Lufthansa Cargo in the Nordics and Baltics is to not just meet the IATA target of 45 percent, but even to exceed it. We are confident that this can be achieved with the continued help of all the freight forwarders and other involved parties, who have already provided a great deal of support, and which has played a vital role in the success realized so far, says Mr Kohnen.
For the period 14 August31 December 2014, Lufthansa Cargo saw the e-AWB penetration rate in Denmark reaching 22.4 percent, in Finland 35.1 percent, in Sweden 27.9 percent, while Norway reached only 4.7 percent.
-The low degree of readiness among the local airfreight industry in Norway obviously requires additional efforts in 2015, says Mr Kohnen.
