Jan 13, 2015 (newstodate): Cargo flights are playing an increasing role at Denmark's Copenhagen Airport.
In 2014, the volume of the airport's all-cargo aircraft flights increased by 73 percent over the preceding year, reaching a total of 7,297 movements against 4,218 in 2013.
In December 2014 alone, the increase was 16.4 percent, y-o-y, to 524 movements.
Behind the growth is not least Emirates SkyCargo that since July 1, 2014, has consolidated all Nordic freighter operations at Copenhagen Airport by moving also two weekly rotations between Dubai and Gothenburg, Sweden, to Denmark, serving the Scandinavian market only.
The carrier now operates a total of 11 freighter flights between Dubai and destinations in Europe and the USA through Copenhagen Airport.
