Jan 21, 2015 (newstodate): The drivers behind the new carrier under formation in Greenland, Aluu Airlines are determined to take off on a fully professional basis.
The company has been set up as a shareholding company, fully owned by Pele Broberg who has a solid background in aviation business, with Kuno Fencker, Royal Arctic Lines Chairman of the Board as its CEO.
As a first move, Aluu Airlines has also named Lars Balslev as its Chief Financial Officer.
-We are determined to start up as a real airline, not a virtual carrier, and we are currently applying for our own AOC by the Danish Aviation Authority, says Kuno Fencker.
-Our financial background is in place and we are in a position to invest in the fleet and organization with some 20 staff that will enable us to launch flights from this summer, targeting June 1, 2015, after more than a year's preparation.
-From the start we will offer flights between Denmark and Greenland, with domestic connections in Greenland between Kangerlussuaq, Ilulissat and Nuuk.
-The aircraft types will be decided upon shortly, but we will most probably start out with ATR aircraft in Greenland, while the decision for the Transatlantic aircraft type may be an Airbus A321 as the A330 will be too large to our estimates.
-The focus will of course be on passenger transportation, but carriage of air cargo will be an integral part of our business plan from the start.
-The granting of our AOC will prove that the authorities have approved our business and economical plans for the coming four years of operations requiring us to be able to sustain operations for three months without a single passenger! This, I hope, will be convincing evidence that we do mean serious business with Aluu Airlines, says Mr Fencker.
