Jan 13, 2015 (newstodate): As expected, Norway's Stavanger Airport set new records in cargo loads in 2014.
A total of 6,538 tonnes was handled at the airport - a modest volume by world standards but an increase by 40.2 percent, y-o-y, making it the fastest rising cargo airport in Norway.
In December 2014 alone, the airport handled 367 tonnes of international cargo, which was an increase by 74.3 percent, y-o-y.
Behind the steep growth is the launch of a once-weekly Airbus A330-200F freighter service by Qatar Airways Cargo connecting Stavanger and Doha from November 3, 2014, and Lufthansa Cargo's weekly call with a Boeing 777F at Stavanger starting from November 8, 2014.
