Jan 22, 20q5 (newstodate): Air passenger volumes through 10 leading airports in the Balkan region increased significantly in 2014.
According to a survey, out of the ten airports included only one did not manage to grow in volumes.
This exception was Pristina Airport in Kosovo, where volumes dropped 13.7 percent, y-o-y, primarily due to the demise of Belle Air Europe that was the leading carrier at the airport.
Topping the list of growth was Serbia's Belgrade Airport where volumes were up 30.9 percent, y-o-y, thanks to the rejuvenated Air Serbia and Etihad.
With 4,638,194 passengers in 2014, the airport was also undisputed the region's largest.
Second-largest was Zagreb in Croatia with 2,430,971 passengers, up 5.6 percent.
Growth-wise, Macedonia's Skopje Airport ranked #2 with an increase in 2014 by 22.8 percent to 1,208,400 passengers.
