Sep 15, 23014 (newstodate): News have dried up concerning ambitious plans for start of Boeing 747 freighter services from Norway's Lakselv Banak Airport in the northern part of Norway as well as combined cargo and passenger flights from Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
Named Viking International Airlines, its Norwegian spokesman and partner to the project Ragnvald Brobakken told newstodate already in June 2014 that the first aircraft was expected at Oslo Gardermoen Airport early in June, with launch of services slated for September 2014.
While one half of September still remains, nothing is, however, heard from Viking International Airlines.
The company applied with Avinor for an area at Lakselv Banak Airport to be dedicated to handling of the aircraft and the cargo volumes.
A meeting was held at Lakselv Airport in August to discuss the application, but the representatives from Viking International Airlines failed to show up.
Anyway, the airport informed the company that the application has been approved - but as of today, Viking International Airlines has not responded to the letter from Avinor.
Despite several calls and emails, newstodate has not succeeded in getting into contact with Mr Brobakken for an update on the project.
