Sep 01, 2014 (newstodate): The decision by many international airlines to avoid flying through Ukraine's airspace will cost the country's airnav provider dearly.
Ukraine's UkSATSE that provides airlines with transit air navigation services estimates that its revenues will drop by 70-80 percent in 2014 due to the low volumes of transit flights after the downing of the Malaysia Airlines' Boeing 777 aircraft over Eastern Ukraine this summer.
While most airlines uphold their re-routings to avoid flying the Ukrainian air space, Finnair last week resumed transit flights over Ukraine, albeit only over West Ukraine.
