Sep 09, 2014 (newstodate): The Swedish carrier Amapola Flyg is preparing for adding two more Fokker 50 aircraft to its fleet.
The two aircraft are currently under conversion to freighters equipped with large cargo doors and will be the first in the fleet with this special capacity.
The first aircraft is expected to arrive before the end of the year, while the second will follow shortly after, possibly by early 2015.
-The new aircraft will be a welcome addition to our current fleet of 10 Fokker 50 freighters as they will open up for a new market segment including the oil and gas exploration businesses for transportation of larger shipments and containerized cargo that require the large cargo door, says Lars Jordahn, Amapola Flyg CEO.
-We have earlier leased-in two Fokker 50 aircraft with large cargo doors from the Italian carrier MiniLiner and are thus convinced of the efficiency of this aircraft type.
-2014 has been a good year for Amapola, and since September 1 all our activities including the technical base are now located at Malmo Sturup Airport which is also contributing to a cost-efficient operation, says Mr Jordahn.
