Sep 17, 2014 (newstodate): The Latvian cargo handling company AG Handling reports sustained growth in volumes through 2014.
-Despite the current problems among our neighboring countries, AG Handling has seen volumes rising steadily through our terminal at Riga Airport, says Gunars Peize, AG Handling managing director.
-Contributing significantly to this is Lufthansa Cargo that started as a customer with us one year ago and now benefits from 14 weekly Lufthansa flights between Riga and Germany as well as 20 weekly trucking services between Riga and Vienna.
-Lufthansa operates with a mix of Airbus aircraft on the route to Riga, but some 95 percent of the flights are performed with Airbus A321 aircraft offering a large cargo capacity. Other flights are operated with Airbus A319 or A320 aircraft and occasionally with Boeing 737 aircraft.
-We offer cargo terminal handling only, with ramp services provided by Havas and Riga Airport Handling.
-Other customers are Belavia that operates four times weekly between Riga and Minsk with smaller aircraft that, however, carry many smaller shipments, as well as CSA served by trucking. Finally, ad-hoc cargo operations also bring in shipments for handling at AG Handling.
-We are luckily still not much affected by the current upheavals from the Russia/Ukraine conflict but we are of course on the alert. Anyhow, I am quite confident that 2014 will end up with a satisfactory growth in volumes compared to last year, says Mr Peize.
