Sep 10, 2014 (newstodate): A subsidiary of aviation industry leader AAR CORP., Nordisk Aviation Products has landed a significant Chinese order for its lightweight ULDs.
Xiamen Airlines has thus ordered nearly 400 lightweight air cargo containers and pallets for use on its first Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
The carrier estimates that it will save a minimum of 350 tonnes of fuel a year and reduce CO2 emissions by more than 1,200 tonnes with the Nordisk ULDs.
With close to 700,000 ULDs sold in the global aviation markets, Nordisk ULDs are used by virtually every airline operating wide-bodied aircraft.
Xiamen Airlines has just taken delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 aircraft out of a total of six ordered with Boeing.
