Sep 15, 2014 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier is re-evaluating its plans for start of services to a new Russian destination.
Plans were to launch services between Riga and Yekaterinburg from June 3, 2014, with two weekly rotations, but due to the developing crisis over Ukraine, plans were suspended.
According to Russian media, airBaltic is now to decide within the coming few weeks whether to start the operation from the coming new year that is traditionally a peak season for travels to and from Russia.
Under the current situation, airBaltic is serving Moscow and St Petersburg with scheduled flights from Riga.
Earlier, airBaltic has also been online at Pskov, Sochi and Kaliningrad.
The Russian market is normally a main generator of airBaltic's transit traffic via its hub at Riga Airport.
