Sep 05, 2014 (newstodate): Time is drawing near for the KLM/AF/Martinair Group to announce its decision on the future of Martinair.
An announcement was earlier planned for end of July 2014, but according to the now former Director KLM/Air France/Martinair Cargo Nordic, Noud Duyzings, an announcement will made in September.
-One thing is certain, though: full-freighter offerings will remain with AF/KLM Cargo at least through 2016, while we will definitely down-size the full-freighter fleet as a complement to our belly capacity in addition to capacity on our Boeing 747 combi-freighters that will remain in the fleet of KLM till the end of 2020, Mr Dyuzings told newstodate on August 1, 2014.
While the industry is still awaiting the outcome of the decision on Martinair, KLM/AF Cargo will retire all MD-11F freighters by the end of 2015, keeping "only" two of currently four Boeing 747-400ERF and two Boeing 777F in the fleet after that.
