Sep 29, 2014 (newstodate): Like other airlines in the Nordic markets, Lufthansa Cargo is struggling in a highly competitive environment in Denmark.
-We are seeing our volumes rising, which is a good thing. But there is a strong and sustained pressure on airfreight rates, leading to declining yields compared to last year, says Michael Schoop, Lufthansa Cargo country manager Denmark.
-When yields continue their downward spiraling we as an airline of course have to scrutinize our unit costs to make ends meet. Falling rates and declining yields invariably require us to look into all elements in our service quality while upholding our standards and meeting customer requirements. Still - we have to follow the market!
-I remains my hope that shippers and forwarders will understand that to keep a dedicated and reliable service provider in the market, all parties in the chain must be able to recover their costs and obtain a fair share of the value created, says Mr Schoop.
