Sep 04, 2014 (newstodate): Thanks especially to a weak start of the year and a decline in exports, eight months' cargo volumes through Estonia's Tallinn Airport are still trailing slightly behind last year's total.
In August 2014, the airport handled 2,273 tonnes of cargo and mail, an increase by seven percent, y-o-y, including 2,143 tonnes of cargo, up 11.3 percent, and 130 tonnes of mail, which was unchanged.
Raising the cargo volumes was a growth in export shipments by 5.8 percent to 1,922 tonnes, while imports were also up by 21.9 percent to 221 tonnes.
During the first eight months of this year, the airport has been handling a total of 12,426 tonnes of cargo and mail, a decline by 2.3 percent, y-o-y, due to a drop in exports by 6.2 percent, y-o-y, to 9,568 tonnes.
