Sep 19, 2014 (newstodate): Having taken in its first Airbus A320 only this summer, the Danish carrier and ACMI carrier DAT is already planning for a major expansion of its fleet.
-We are monitoring the market for finding at least two, possibly three Airbus A320 aircraft, says Jesper Rungholm, DAT CEO and co-owner.
-The aircraft should arrive with DAT already during the coming winter and be in service from the start of next summer's program with Danish tour operators on full-charter contracts.
-In the fleet is still one MD-87 aircraft that will, however, be phased out. Besides we are also operating one MD-83 aircraft that will remain in service as long as it meets coming EU requirements, and continuous upgrading is still economically viable.
DAT took delivery of its first Airbus A320 in June 2014 and the second aircraft, currently operated by Adria Airways, will follow by the end of October 2014 after a comprehensive pre-delivery check.
The Airbus fleet is based at West Denmark's international airport, Billund Airport, where a 2,600 sq m hangar is being constructed to accommodate DAT's Airbus A320 aircraft fleet.
The hangar, to be commissioned by early December 2014, is built by the airport and will be operated by DAT on a leasing contract.
