Sep 17, 2014 (newstodate): A Chinese delegation is soon to visit Croatia to further the project for new direct flights between Croatia and China.
In Zagreb, the delegation will be hosted by the Chinese Southeast European Business Association, CSEBA, set up in February 2014 on the initiative of former Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and a prime driver in the project.
-The delegation will negotiate terms and potentials for the planned air services and tour the country until October 30 to visit the various sites of interest to Chinese tourists, says a CSEBA spokeswoman.
-If plans materialize, we might see the first flights by the end of October 2014 already, starting up modestly with one or two rotations per months till market potentials have been proved, allowing for a future decision to turn to scheduled operations.
-First on the map will be Chinese destinations Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing, with more destinations to be added as the market develops. Also potentials for increasing the market to comprise other countries in the Balkan region will be explored, she says.
Since the Balkan wars in the 90'ies, there has been no direct flight connections between China and the region.
CSEBA aims at setting up agencies in China, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Russia to effectively serve common business interests.
