Sep 03, 2014 (newstodate): ISAF traffic is still bolstering airfreight volumes at Latvia's Riga Airport - but less so in 2014.
In August 2014, the airport handled a total of 3,083 tonnes of cargo which was 24.9 percent down, y-o-y.
Of the totals, 2,446 tonnes were cargo, down 32 percent, and 647 tonnes were mail shipments, up 25 percent.
During January-August 2014, the airport has now handled 23,522 tonnes of cargo and mail, down 30.2 percent due to a decline by 37 percent, y-o-y.
The cargo boom at Riga Airport started in April 2012 with the first flights by Kalitta Air and National Air Cargo which took volumes from 604 tonnes in March 2012 to 2,990 tonnes in April - an increase by 657 percent, y-o-y!
The ISAF traffic is expected to continue at Riga Airport till the end of this year.
