Aug 13, 2014 (newstodate): One of few IATA carriers with sustained positive growth in the generally turbulent Scandinavian markets is Thai Airways Cargo.
-With ex-Scandinavia transit cargo comprising some 70 percent of the total volumes, one crucial asset for us is the very high efficiency of our prime hub at Bangkok, says Erik Bertelsen, Thai Cargo Manager Scandinavia, based in Copenhagen.
-For instance, shipments from Scandinavia transiting at Bangkok for onward transportation to Australia may be turned around within 60 or 90 minutes, enabling us to serve our Scandinavian forwarders with delivery at the airport in Australia within only some 36 hours after departure from Copenhagen Airport. Logistics solutions such as this are highly appraised by certain customers with time-sensitive shipments.
-contributing to the success of our cargo hub in Bangkok is also a high allocation of manpower in handling reflecting the comparatively modest wages in the Thai labor market.
-At Copenhagen, our office is manned with five staff jointly commanding 120 years of working experience with the company, which also contributes to fast decision-making and efficiency in customer service.
-With the Boeing 777 replacing the Boeing 747 aircraft, we have gained some 40-50 percent in cargo capacity, and efficient handling provided by Spirit contributes to a rate of irregularity below one percent, says Mr Bertelsen.
