Aug 21, 2014 (newstodate): Thai Airways is a steadfast operator on the routes between Bangkok and Scandinavia.
The carrier operates a daily flight on routes from Bangkok to all three Scandinavian capitals, adding two weekly flights also from Stockholm and Copenhagen to the Thai leisure destination Phuket from mid-December, thus increasing to 25 weekly connections between Scandinavia and Thailand.
-The tight flight schedule is one of our main assets, says Erik Bertelsen, Thai Cargo Manager Scandinavia, based in Copenhagen.
-The frequent flights provide an immediate back-up whenever cargo shipments pile up and this is crucial for our customers. Also the Thai Fleet Management's decision to replace the Boeing 747-400 with Boeing 777 aircraft on the routes to Scandinavia has added 40-50 percent in cargo capacity, and coupled with excellent handling services provided by Spirit Air Cargo Handling we are in an excellent position in the market.
-Export volumes are rising in all Scandinavian market, not least of course in Norway, and some 70 percent of these shipments are transiting via our hub in Bangkok for onward transportation. But we are certainly seeing import volumes carried into Scandinavia rising as well, says Mr Bertelsen.
