Aug 15, 2014 (newstodate): Sweden managed to meet the cut-over date for implementation of IATA's e-AWB in the Nordic region, set for August 14, 2014.
Nine IATA airlines committed themselves to spearhead the process in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland, with SAS Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo, KLM/AF Cargo and Finnair Cargo leading the process in the respective markets.
Lufthansa Cargo thus managed the process in Sweden, reporting a basically smooth transition.
-Yes, I am happy to state that we are ready in Sweden. After hard work on all sides, we are now running the first shipments without problems, says Frank Nozinsky, Lufthansa Cargo Country Manager Sweden.
-We still use these days to fine-tune the process as to be honest, at Malmo Airport we did face some minor issues, which will be solved in the next days and we have to do manual work around until then. On the other hand, Arlanda and Gothenburg are running smoothly.
-The vast majority of agents, including all mayor players, have signed the multilateral agreement and received or are on the way to get their notification status to make e-AWB reality.
-As the leading carrier for Sweden under the IATA umbrella and together with the mayor airlines in Sweden, we are happy to be on the way to finally turn this "old" initiative into reality. I now expect the volume of e-AWB to increase dramatically in the coming days and weeks, says Mr Nozinsky.
