Aug 06, 2014 (newstodate): Poland's Warsaw Chopin Airport grew its cargo volumes during H1, 2014, by 18.4 percent, y-o-y.
Totals exceeded 27,300 tonnes during the six months, including 354 tonnes of domestic cargo, up 14.8 percent, and 26,900 tonnes of international cargo, up 18.4 percent
Import cargo reached 15,400 tonnes, while export cargo was 11,900 tonnes.
The prime cargo destinations were Leipzig (3,500 tonnes), Cologne (3,100 tonnes), Dubai (2,900 tonnes), New York (2,800 tonnes) and Chicago (2,200 tonnes, while the biggest cargo carriers were LOT Polish Airlines with 9,500 tonnes, UPS Airlines 4,100 tonnes, European Air Transport 3,500 tonnes, Emirates 2,800 tonnes, and TNT Airways with 1,100 tonnes.
The airport has also now completed the construction of a new cargo apron next to the old cargo apron in the southern area of the airport.
The new apron can accommodate three code F aircraft like Antonov An-124 Ruslan, or six code C aircraft like Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 aircraft.
