Aug 22, 2014 (newstodate): Poland's largest regional airport, Katowice Airport is seeing its cargo volumes growing in 2014.
A total of 8,066 tonnes of cargo was handled during the first half of this year, corresponding to an increase by 64 percent, y-o-y, and the airport is even estimating that 2014 will end at around 20,000 tonnes.
The cargo is primarily generated by the traffic from integrators DHL Express, TNT, UPS and FedEX.
To cope with the increase and preparing for a continued rise in volumes, the airport plans to construct a new cargo terminal and other cargo infrastructure, with works to start in 2014 and targeting the second half of 2016 for commissioning of the new facilities.
